Takaoka Mikurumayama Matsuri

During the Takaoka Mikurumayama Matsuri, 7 richly adorned Mikurumayama (御車山, floats) are drawn solemnly around the city according to the ancient customs. 

It seems that only the boys are allowed to board the floats, and only the ones belonging to the families of the owners. Judging from their faces, though, they did not really seem very happy.

Tokyo Marathon 2012 - the craziest event ever!!!

I could not believe my eyes when I saw so many people dressed up for the event. There was even a bare-foot Jesus Christ running with a full size wooden cross on his shoulders!!!

Tokyo Marathon 2012 - the top runners

It's almost unbelievable they can finish a full marathon in a little bit more than 2 hours. It means running at about 20km/h for all the time!!!

By the way, the winner was Michael Kipyego, from Kenia (the last one with the green outfit in the two pictures below), with a total time of 2:07:37. Congratulations, Michael!

The guy in the center of the picture, with the number 1, is Haile Gebrselassie. At the end he was fourth in 2:08.17.
