Sumidagawa Fireworks Festival

Sumidagawa Fireworks Festival (隅田川花火大会) is one of the biggest fireworks event in Japan, if not the biggest.
This year the fireworks were dwarfed by the Tokyo Sky Tree. It was very nice seeing how "small" the fireworks looked compared to the 634 meter tall tower.

Takaoka Mikurumayama Matsuri

During the Takaoka Mikurumayama Matsuri, 7 richly adorned Mikurumayama (御車山, floats) are drawn solemnly around the city according to the ancient customs. 

It seems that only the boys are allowed to board the floats, and only the ones belonging to the families of the owners. Judging from their faces, though, they did not really seem very happy.

Tokyo Marathon 2012 - the craziest event ever!!!

I could not believe my eyes when I saw so many people dressed up for the event. There was even a bare-foot Jesus Christ running with a full size wooden cross on his shoulders!!!
